Understand your estimate

How the calculation works

Litres used = distance ÷ efficiency. Fuel cost = litres used × price per litre.

A worked example

160 km at 12 km/litre uses about 13.33 litres. At £1.52/litre, the estimated cost is £20.27.

What to allow for

  • Efficiency is constant throughout the journey. Traffic, driving style and load can change actual consumption.
  • Includes petrol or diesel fuel only. It does not calculate EV charging, servicing, parking or driver costs.

Useful questions

My vehicle shows litres per 100 km. What do I enter?

Divide 100 by the litres-per-100-km figure. For example, 8 litres per 100 km is 12.5 km/litre.

Can I use this for an electric vehicle?

No. EV estimates need electricity consumption and charging prices, which this fuel calculator does not model.
