Understand your estimate

How the calculation works

Minutes = (distance ÷ average speed) × 60 + extra time allowance.

A worked example

18 km at an average 32 km/h takes 33.75 minutes. Add a five-minute buffer for 38.75 minutes, shown as 39 minutes.

What to allow for

  • This is a distance-and-speed estimate. It does not use live traffic, road routing or departure times.
  • Average speed must be greater than zero. The result is rounded after the buffer is added.

Useful questions

Does this check live traffic?

No. Use your own route knowledge and allow extra time for conditions on the day.

Can I plan a return trip?

Enter the combined outbound and return distance, and enough buffer time for both legs.
